Storage Water Heater

A storage water heater is designed for multipoint use and operates with a mixer tap system. With its large volume capacity, it is able to store and supply hot water to various points throughout a home, including the shower, bathtub, wash basin, kitchen sink and washing machine.

Tips for buying a Storage Water Heater

1. Check the piping system in the house.

  • Hot & cold piping system

Before installing a storage water heater, it is necessary to install both hot and cold-water piping systems. It is crucial to use appropriate piping materials to prevent leaks, corrosion, and other problems that can compromise the system's effectiveness. PVC pipes are suitable for cold water. Copper, PPR, or PEX pipes are recommended for hot water.

2. Check the ceiling space in the house.

  • Manhole access

The manhole should be at the standard size of either 18 inches or 24 inches for easy access. It is recommended to locate the storage water heater unit facing or nearby the manhole access for easy maintenance.

  • Ceiling height

o Horizontal Unit (AST-XX-H)
As the diameter of the tank for a horizontal-type storage water heater typically ranges from 380mm to 410mm, it is recommended that there be at least 1.5 feet of clearance between the top of the plaster ceiling and the concrete ceiling for proper installation.

o Vertical Unit (AST-XX-V)
As the diameter of the tank for a vertical-type storage water heater typically ranges from 534mm to 734mm, it is recommended that there be at least 3.5 feet of clearance between the top of the plaster ceiling and the concrete ceiling for proper installation.

3. Check the distance between the locations you want to use.

  • A single storage water heater unit can be used for multiple locations if the distance between them is within 15 feet.
  • It is recommended to get another unit of storage water heater if the distance between multiple locations is more than 15 feet, as sharing one unit may result in longer waiting times when accessing hot water.

4. Check the required capacity and choose the right model.
The specifications of horizontal and vertical storage water heaters are the same. It is recommended to choose the appropriate model based on both the available ceiling space in your house and the required capacity for daily use.
